|OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP ? Work with Unit Managers, Contract Manager and Park Manager to manage workload and productivity levels. ? Analyze workload, available manpower, appropriate service levels and all processes to ensure present and future efficiencies. ? Oversee major operational changes such as moving work load from one shift to another. ? Analyze assignments and work schedules to ensure equity among customers across campus. ? Analyze new methods and equipment for productivity and ergonomic benefits. |
BUDGET ? Overall responsibility for $10 M+ operating budget. ? Analyze budget to ensure funding and staffing for essential work throughout Units. ? Project fiscal outcomes throughout the year. ? Develop, monitor and take responsibility for recharge responsibilities.
HUMAN RESOURCES AND SUPERVISION ? Assume full responsibility for staffing, budgets, costs and human resource-related activities pertaining to department staff members. ? Hire, supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate direct report staff. ? Assist with HR issues including corrective action, equity adjustments and hiring of department staff.
PROGRAM AND POLICY ? Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect the department such as implementing computerized management systems. ? Respond to campus emergencies in accordance with established plans, and participate in the continued refinement of emergency response plans.
COMMUNICATIONS AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS ? Use all methods of communication for effective management of responsibilities. ? Actively communicate and meet with campus clients on process, procedure and satisfaction levels. ? Collect and analyze point of service customer feedback for all services provided. ? Evaluation of staff. ? Meet with all staff on a regular basis to solicit input and disseminate information. ? Interface with clients to ensure appropriate customer service.
OTHER ? Maintain knowledge on current industry trends, practices and equipment. ? Ensure that safety protocols are adhered to throughout reporting units. ? Perform other tasks as needed including planning and preparing for the future needs of the units. ? Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.? Demonstrated knowledge of Grounds, Recycling and Custodial Operations. ? Demonstrated leadership and fiscal experience successfully managing a significant budget and staff resources ensuring program and service goals and needs are met. ? Five (5) years of supervisory experience hiring, coaching, mentoring, evaluating and managing staff. ? Interpersonal, written and oral communication to effectively convey operational goals and make program/policy changes to the appropriate target audience. Ability to ensure that quality and customer service standards are communicated implemented and continually monitored. ? Knowledge of industry best practices in areas of responsibility. ? Ability to facilitate and collaborate with various internal and external constituencies on strategic long and short term services planning and management. ? Broad knowledge and understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies. ? Strong management skills to include organization, long-and short term planning. ? Education/Training: ? Bachelor?s degree and/or equivalent experience/training in architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning or landscape architecture and license or certificate to practice in at least one of the above professions.
