General Description: This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Sports Surface Management with the overall operation and maintenance of the soccer and softball stadium fields, grounds, and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with coaching staff and event management to ensure that games/practice are played on time and the fields are safe for play.
Knowledge of materials, best practices and equipment used in athletic field maintenance activities.
Use computer software programs applicable to field irrigation systems, turf fertility, and accounting.
Management and implementation of Integrated Pest Management principles.
Operate, repair, and perform maintenance of specialized field equipment to include mowers, blowers, pumps, aerification equipment, and pesticide application equipment and irrigation repair.
Oversee employees and student assistants in projects and game/practice management of the fields.
Train new employees on proper operating and equipment procedures.
Develop maintenance and/or repair work schedules for equipment.
Develop project estimates by calculating time, material, staffing and equipment needed.
Establishes and implements organized system of preventative maintenance for all equipment.
Maintains accurate and up to date records of service maintenance performed.
Responsible for inventory and ordering of supplies and parts needed to maintain equipment.
Inspects and safety tests all equipment regularly to ensure they are in proper working order.
Ensures that any equipment scheduled for use has been serviced and ready by projected start date.
Instructs staff on proper use and care of equipment, including cleaning and storage.
Makes recommendations for new equipment purchases as needed.
